UAB seeks to support faculty and departments while encouraging academic rigor and innovation in the undergraduate curriculum across the university as a whole.聽 UAB approves new courses, new academic programs, and changes to existing courses. UAB also reviews university-wide academic policies.
What Needs to be Submitted to UAB for Approval?
Proposed New Courses
Reviewed in conjunction with the Dean of the College, new course proposals for fall 2024 are due by February 12, 2024. They should be submitted via Acalog, by your department鈥檚 Acalog editor.
Proposed Majors, Minors, and Concentrations
New academic programs are reviewed each semester. For the 2023-2024 academic year, the fall deadline is November 1, 2023, and the spring deadline is February 1, 2024.
Changes to Courses
Changes to an Existing Major, Minor or Concentration
Changes included the number of required courses, the number of courses required at different levels, changes to minimum grade requirements, or the addition of required additional minors (or prohibited double majors).
